Agreement

These terms of use are the agreement between you and the developer of Soorah (“Soorah”, “we”, “us”) for the Soorah mobile app and the website at soorah.app. By downloading, installing, or using Soorah, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy at soorah.app/privacy.

If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you are a parent or guardian, you also agree on behalf of any child who uses Soorah on your device.

These terms are written so the app can be listed on the Apple App Store and Google Play, including rules for in-app purchases and family use. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the iOS app except where these terms add to it. Google Play’s Terms of Service apply to distribution and billing on Android.

What Soorah is — and is not

Soorah is a memorisation companion for Juz Amma. It helps you listen, repeat, mark what you remember, and practise recall. Marks are always manual. Practice never certifies that an ayah is memorised, never produces a grade, and never replaces a teacher, a school, or a religious authority.

The Quran text, translations, and recitations are provided so you can practise. They must not be presented as a new or altered scripture. See Credits in the app for sources.

Children and grown-up options

Children may use Soorah on a family device under a parent or guardian’s supervision. You are responsible for that use, for the nicknames you put on profiles, and for any purchase made on the device.

Purchase, restore, and support options are shown only after a grown-up check. That check is a local arithmetic gate. It is not a separate parent account and it does not move responsibility away from the store account holder.

You must not use Soorah to harm a child, to collect a child’s contact details, or to contact a child through the app. The app has no chat, no public profiles, and no social feed.

Licence to use the app

Soorah grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for family memorisation, in line with these terms and the store rules that apply to your download.

The app is licensed, not sold. You do not acquire ownership of the software, the Quran text, the translations, the recitations, the fonts, or our trademarks.

You may not copy the app for others, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, rent or sublicense it, scrape or bulk-download its content, or use it to build a competing service.

Profiles and this device

Soorah does not use Soorah accounts. Profiles live on the device. Each profile keeps its own marks and practice history. Reciter, downloads, reading preferences, and the full-practice unlock are shared by every profile on that device.

Deleting a profile removes that profile’s marks and history from the device and cannot be undone. It does not remove other profiles, downloaded audio, or the unlock.

If you lose the device, uninstall the app, or clear its storage, local profiles and marks are gone. We cannot restore them from a Soorah cloud, because there is not one. A store purchase can still be restored as described below.

Free starter pack and full practice

Everyone can use the free starter pack: Al-Kawthar (108), Al-Ikhlas (112), and An-Nas (114). Those surahs do not expire and keep listen, mark, and practise tools.

Full practice is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the rest of Juz Amma for every profile on the device. It is not a subscription. It does not auto-renew. It does not charge again unless you buy it on a different store account.

The price is the amount Apple or Google shows you in the store at the time of purchase, in your local currency. Only a verified purchase or restore unlocks the library. Pending, cancelled, failed, or offline payments do not.

The unlock grants access to practise. It does not change anyone’s marks, and it is not a certificate.

Purchases, restore, and refunds

On iPhone and iPad, digital unlocks are sold only through Apple In-App Purchase. On Android, they are sold only through Google Play Billing. Soorah does not take card payments inside the app and does not sell the unlock through a website checkout.

You can restore a previous purchase from App access in Settings, using the same Apple ID or Google account that bought it. Restore does not create a new charge when the store finds the unlock.

Refunds, billing questions, purchase sharing, and payment-method changes are handled by Apple or Google under their rules, not by a separate Soorah billing team. For an Apple purchase, request a refund from Apple. For a Google Play purchase, request a refund from Google. Emailing hello@soorah.app can help us explain what the app should do after a refund or restore; it cannot override store refund policy.

If a store refunds the unlock, access may return to the free starter pack once the store no longer reports a valid purchase.

Quran text, translations, and audio

Uthmani text, word data, and QCF page fonts come from the Quran Foundation and the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex. Translations currently include English (Saheeh International) and Bahasa Melayu (Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih) via the Quran Foundation. Recitations of Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, and Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawi are streamed or downloaded from Quran Foundation’s audio service.

You may use that content inside Soorah for personal and family memorisation. You may not extract it to republish, to train models, to sell, or to present as your own edition. Source licences and credits in the app still apply.

We may change reciters, translations, or sources if a licence or technical need requires it. We will not use that as a way to take away a paid unlock; the unlock is access to Juz Amma practice in the app, not a promise that one named reciter will always be listed.

Acceptable use

Use Soorah only for lawful memorisation and reading. Do not attempt to bypass the grown-up check to make a purchase a child is not allowed to make. Do not interfere with store receipts, restore, or the free-surah limits. Do not misuse support email.

We may refuse support or terminate the licence if you materially abuse the app, fraudulently obtain the unlock, or use Soorah in a way that harms children or breaks the law. Stopping the licence does not override a refund you are owed by Apple or Google.

Intellectual property

Soorah, the Soorah logo, and the app’s interface are ours or are used under licence. Streamline icons, fonts, Quran text, translations, and recitations belong to their respective owners and are used under their licences.

These terms do not grant you any right to use Soorah branding except as needed to use the app itself.

Disclaimer of warranties

Soorah is provided “as is” and “as available”. Practice tools, audio availability, and translations may be interrupted by your network, your device, or the content provider. We do not warrant that using Soorah will result in memorisation, and we do not warrant that the app will be error-free on every device.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some places do not allow certain disclaimers. If you are a consumer in one of those places, you keep the rights the law does not let us limit.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Soorah and its developer are not liable for lost marks, lost downloads, lost device data, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any amount above the price you paid to the store for full practice in the twelve months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, above zero).

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that limit is forbidden.

Additional terms for the Apple App Store

If you downloaded Soorah from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and the developer of Soorah only, not with Apple. The developer, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.

The licence is a non-transferable licence to use Soorah on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Family Sharing and volume purchasing, if Apple enables them for this product, follow Apple’s rules.

Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Soorah. If Soorah fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the App Store purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Soorah. The developer, not Apple, is responsible for product claims, including product liability, legal or regulatory failures, and consumer-protection claims.

If a third party claims that Soorah or your possession and use of Soorah infringes that party’s intellectual property rights, the developer, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging that claim, to the extent required by these terms.

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a region subject to a U.S. government embargo, or designated by the U.S. government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

You must also comply with applicable third-party terms when using Soorah (for example your wireless-data agreement). Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. The developer’s contact for questions, complaints, and claims is hello@soorah.app.

Additional terms for Google Play

If you downloaded Soorah from Google Play, Google’s Play Terms of Service and Payments Policy apply to the download and to billing. Full practice is a one-time in-app product processed by Google Play Billing, not a subscription.

The developer of Soorah, not Google, is responsible for the app, for support, and for the content inside it. Refunds for Play purchases follow Google’s refund rules. Family Library sharing, if Google makes it available for this product, follows Google’s rules; inside Soorah, a verified unlock still applies to every local profile on that device.

You must not use Soorah in a way that breaks Google Play Developer Program Policies, including the Families policy when the app is offered to children.

Changes, law, and contact

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. The current terms live at soorah.app/terms. If a change is material, we will post it there before it applies. If you do not agree, stop using the app and uninstall it. Store refunds remain a matter for Apple or Google.

If a court finds a part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms do not create a partnership or employment relationship. We may assign them as part of a reorganisation of the project; you may not assign them.

Where the law requires a local mandatory rule — including consumer law and children’s privacy law — that rule applies. These terms do not ask you to give up rights that cannot be given up.
